City staff updated the council on Project Phoenix implementation, reporting that offers of employment have been extended to 13 individuals toward the goal of hiring 20 new firefighters needed for planned coverage of the Levy and Bellinger Hill stations.
Staff said the 13 hires leave seven positions to fill before the planned October 1 service transition; council members responded positively and asked that when hires are introduced to the council their names be provided phonetically. No budget adjustments were discussed in the update.
