The China Select Board approved several Tax Increment Financing (TIF) applications at its June 15 meeting, allocating funds to a range of local projects and organizations.
Key approvals recorded in the meeting minutes include $47,900 to the China Lake Association (C.4); $45,000 to Thurston Park (C.7); $35,000 to the China Four Seasons Club (C.7); $6,000 to China Ice Days (C.2); and $3,000 to The Town Line (C.3). The board also approved $19,000 for Town of China — China Community Days, $505 for the Mid Maine Chamber of Commerce, $7,504 for KVCOG (split $4,000 from C.1 and $3,504 from C.3), and $15,991 from C.3 for a public relations consultant. Several motions passed with 4–1 votes or recorded abstentions where noted.
The minutes note some dissent and abstentions on particular awards: Brent Chesley dissented on The Town Line award (vote recorded 4–1), and several awards were recorded with one abstention noted as TR (Thomas Rumpf).
