Delran council adopts $495,000 bond ordinance for pumps, equipment and park work

The Delran Township Council voted 5-0 on Aug. 12 to adopt Ordinance 2025-12, a bond ordinance appropriating $495,000 for multiple capital improvements including chilled water pumps, mowers and police equipment. Councilmember Mr. Morrow made the motion to adopt the ordinance on second reading; the roll call was unanimous.
The ordinance specifies $470,250 in bonds with a $24,750 down payment and breaks the appropriation into four purposes: $150,000 for chilled water pump acquisition and replacement (15-year useful life); $135,000 for public works and parks equipment including mowers (15 years); $160,000 for police equipment including dashboard cameras and tactical weapons (5 years); and $50,000 for park improvements including Mulberry Street Park (15 years). The ordinance also authorizes bond anticipation notes if needed and caps proceeds used for financing costs and fees at $95,000.
During the public portion, resident William Spych asked for the township's current total general bond obligation; Councilmember Mr. Lyon said he would contact CFO Kareemah Press for that figure. The ordinance was passed with all five councilmembers voting aye. The ordinance takes effect in 20 days after final publication, per the Local Bond Law.
