District technology staff updated the board on a planned replacement of the aging phone system with a cloud-based vendor referred to in the transcript as "Go to." The administrator said the current phone system is about 15 years old and obsolete; the planned June installation will provide desktop phone apps, instant messaging separate from Microsoft Teams, and a Teams integration option for calendar syncing.
Officials said they vetted multiple vendors and that the chosen system came recommended by other districts; they also said the upfront cost is expected to be covered by a safety grant but that funding details were not fully confirmed in the meeting. "We finally have come to a, agreement for a new phone system, a new company called Go to, that they're gonna install a cloud phone system, in June," the director said.
