The district's School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) annual report prompted trustees to address e-bike and e-scooter safety ahead of the new school year. Speaker 1 said the board is partnering with The Woodlands Township on a series of bike-safety videos and that the district will formalize what students can and cannot do regarding e-bikes and scooters.
"We have been working with... the Woodlands Township because they're the ones who actually brought it to us," Speaker 1 said, adding that the guidance will appear in the student code of conduct and be available for parents to preview when school resumes. Trustees emphasized education and community safety measures such as bike rodeos and training rather than punitive action where possible.
