The commission approved resolution R‑82‑26 authorizing the interim city manager to contract with Fishbeck Engineers for master planning and engineering services in the I‑75 Exit 78 development area. Utilities director Kevin Craney told commissioners the third phase will focus on street widening (Washington and Farrington roads), roundabout concepts and water/sewer master planning, and is the last of a three‑resolution work plan covering water, sewer and roadway design.
Craney said three bids were solicited when the city selected Fishbeck, and that the total cost for the three master‑planning resolutions is $2,678,000. He added the funds are already deposited in an escrow account jointly managed by the city and the private developer and that the contract will allow Fishbeck to complete design and engineering tasks for future construction and TIF‑related work.
