Union City Borough Council approved hiring Kenneth Fye from the certified civil service list as a part-time police officer. The motion, made by Councilor Joyce and seconded by Councilor Osborn, carried unanimously among members present.
Mayor Robert Wolf had emphasized the importance of maintaining a local police department and recommended adding a part-time officer to improve coverage. Borough Manager Cindy Wells told council the 2024 budget had allowed at least $33,560 for wages and benefits; she said final cost would depend on the number of hours the new officer works. The council recorded the hire as a motion that passed unanimously.
