The Town of Lincoln Selectboard on July 14 approved a $5,500 quote from D&F Paving to pave a 25-foot by 95-foot section in front of the town garage using 3 inches of ¾-inch hot-mix asphalt. Tim McGowan moved the motion; Joe Martell seconded, and the board voted unanimously (PASSED 5/0/0).
Josh, the town staff member who obtained the quote, told the board the price was favorable because D&F will already have its crew and equipment in Lincoln for the Lincoln Gap Road project; board members agreed delaying the apron paving would likely raise costs. “Tim recognized that Josh will need to monitor the budget closely for the remainder of the year due to this unexpected paving expense,” the minutes state.
The board noted the paving will be funded from the Highway Fund; meeting minutes show the FY27 Highway budget is already projected to run an estimated $31,000 deficit because of higher labor costs. The Selectboard concluded that the garage paving is a necessary improvement and directed Trish to follow up with D&F for contract signatures and scheduling.
The pavement work is to be coordinated with the Lincoln Gap Road project to take advantage of on-site crews; the board recorded the approval and administrative follow-up tasks to finalize the job.
