Geoff Hathaway of Magic Mountain presented to the Planning Commission on the resort’s recent sustainability work and development ideas, describing electric snowmaking upgrades and a staff increase from roughly 45 to about 100 employees. He said Magic Mountain is exploring mixed-use residential and commercial uses for the Dostal Property, as well as expanded summer activities and community-event space.
"The wastewater pond is currently at capacity," Geoff Hathaway said, and he identified employee housing as a pressing constraint given a lack of hotel rooms, few Airbnb options and an ordinance limiting short‑term rentals to 50 days per year. Commissioners asked about wastewater capacity and potential housing solutions; the presentation flagged workforce housing as a cross-cutting issue for future town-plan work and for coordination with One Londonderry.
