The Bemidji Public School District board voted unanimously on July 20 to renew its 10‑year Long‑Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) plan, a required document that outlines deferred capital projects, revenue projections and assurances for allowable use of LTFM funds.
Ashley Eastridge presented the plan and said it contains three parts: a 10‑year expenditure projection, a 10‑year revenue projection and a statement of assurances to the Minnesota Department of Education. “LTFM is a restricted funding source... used for deferred capital or capital expenditures and maintenance projects that prevent further erosion of facilities,” Eastridge said, explaining the plan can be adjusted for major projects or catastrophic events. The board adopted the resolution by roll-call vote; each member answered “Yes.”
Eastridge noted the district can request additional levy authority from the state for qualifying large projects such as asbestos abatement or roofing by providing project-level data to the department. The renewal formalizes the district's multi-year maintenance schedule and ensures compliance with MDE requirements.
