Lincoln to have Waitsfield replace culvert after mishap; contractor barred and permits revoked

Town Administrator Trish Waugh told the Selectboard that a culvert incident on Quaker Street earlier this season cost Lincoln about $5,000 for a one-day repair. She said Waitsfield met with town officials and agreed to replace the culvert itself in the spring and to cover Lincoln’s repair cost; the existing 15-inch culvert will be replaced with an 18-inch culvert and the cable under the culvert will be relocated beneath it.
Waugh also reported that "the contractor who did the work is no longer welcome to do work in Lincoln," and that Waitsfield officials were apologetic and responsive in arranging repairs. The board discussed revoking Waitsfield’s existing permits and instituting a Highway Supervisor inspection and sign-off process before any new permits are granted.
