A visually impaired resident asked whether Mount Vernon plans to install audible crosswalks like those in Burlington and whether Skagit Transit will extend evening and weekend hours. Mayor Donovan called forward Public Works Director Chris Phillips and also recognized a Skagit Transit official in the room to address the questions.
Chris Phillips offered to follow up directly with the resident to learn more, and Crystal Siddum of Skagit Transit said the agency’s long-range plan includes expanding service hours and frequency if funding can be secured. "It's all about finding the funding to do it, but, yeah, absolutely. That is part of our long range plan to include increasing frequencies," Siddum said.
