Liz Lantigua, founder of Literacy Advocates USA, told the board her group’s stated mission is to increase children’s reading and to bring authors and book-related activities to events. “We, try to, as Anna was saying, instill the joy of reading in kids,” she said while describing prior fairs and programming. The nonprofit indicated it would not ask the town for funding and would contribute 20% of proceeds to a board-chosen initiative if approved.
