Chairman Casey Mussatto opened the public hearing at 7:01 p.m. Applicant Timothy Gogolski described the request to place a shop in front of the house, extending approximately 25 feet in front and including a 15-foot concrete porch overhang. Staff notified six adjoining property owners; one written response was returned in opposition. Property owner and Utilities Director Dale Schwieger spoke against the variance during the hearing. Mussatto closed the hearing at 7:10 p.m., and commissioners discussed options including approval as presented, approval with restrictions, or disapproval.
The commission’s formal vote to deny the variance constitutes a recommendation to the City Council; the minutes record the motion to deny carrying 3-2. The minutes do not record a roll-call of individual yes/no votes. The next step is for the City Council to consider the commission’s recommendation at a subsequent meeting.
