Superintendent Massey said the superintendent guardrails include prohibitions on non-district-approved materials in classrooms and directives that the district must not allow the number of D or F-rated campuses or ineffective teachers to increase or remain the same. After discussion, a motion to adopt the board guardrails and a separate motion to adopt the superintendent guardrails were moved, seconded and approved by voice votes.
Supporters said the measures clarify roles and protect consistent curriculum alignment; some trustees asked for continued transparency on how the guardrails would be enforced and monitored. The board directed administration to include the guardrails in upcoming monitoring and reporting materials.
