Pasco City will hold a ceremony at its July 27 city council workshop to swear in Brent Cook as the new chief of police. "We'll start with the ceremony swearing in Pasco's new chief of police, Brent Cook," Communications Coordinator Alyssa Warner announced during the council's agenda preview.
The city said Cook has "served at every level of the Pasco Police Department" and was selected to lead the department after a nationwide search. The ceremony is listed as part of the workshop agenda; council members and the public will be able to participate in the meeting’s public-comment portions later in the session.
The swearing-in was presented as the opening item on a workshop agenda that also includes presentations on cannabis revenue, homelessness enforcement rules, an extension of a moratorium on essential public facilities, and a possible traffic safety program funded by red light camera fines. The council indicated it will announce any decisions that result from an executive session held during the meeting.
