City to replace water meters in May, lifeguard hires complete and generator procurement underway

Acting city administrator Alex told the council that lifeguards and concession workers have been hired and that lifeguard training is being scheduled; the city plans to open the pool on Memorial Day. She also reported that office and public works staff completed training on new water meters and that meter replacement will begin in May on Route 1 with 3/4- and 1-inch meters prioritized.
On municipal infrastructure, Alex said the city is pursuing a generator for the city office through a previously approved USDA grant; the current vendor estimated a 28-week shipping lead time while the vendor searches for faster supply options. "We will start putting meters in the ground at the beginning of May, once Corey starts reading for the month," Alex said when describing the implementation timeline.
