Claymont City Board approves 2026 meeting schedule, committees and administrative authorities

The Claymont City Board of Education approved a package of organizational items for 2026 at its Jan. 12 organizational meeting. By motion of Mrs. Host, seconded by Mrs. Grandison, the board approved Items A–O covering the 2026 regular meeting schedule (monthly meetings at 6:00 p.m. at the Administrative Office unless otherwise noted), committee and administrative appointments, fiscal authorities for the treasurer and superintendent, and several administrative policies.

The approved committee and appointment list included OSBA Legislative representative Martha Campbell, OSBA student liaison Lois Grandison, policy committee members Solomon Peters and Michelle Wolf, Buckeye Career Center representative Cyndy Host, and others. The board authorized the treasurer to pay bills within permanent appropriations and to act as signatory on payroll and warrant checks; it authorized the superintendent as purchasing agent and established a Records Commission with the president, treasurer and superintendent as members. The board retained Pepple & Waggoner as legal counsel and authorized the treasurer to sign telecommunications agreements to comply with E‑Rate rules.

The motion passed on roll call with all five members voting yes. The board set mileage reimbursement to the IRS rate of $0.725 per mile and set the minimum wage at the federal rate of $11.00 per hour. After approving Items A–O the board voted to adjourn; the meeting ended at 6:09 p.m.
