Claymont board approves personnel changes, policies and FFA trip requests
Summary
The Board accepted two resignations, approved volunteers, substitute hires, multiple policy updates including a Preventing Chronic Absenteeism policy (effective Aug. 1, 2026), the Gifted Identification Plan, and a district agreement with Stark State College; it also approved an overnight FFA trip April 29–May 1, 2026.
The Claymont City Board of Education approved a package of superintendent recommendations Feb. 9 that included personnel actions, policy updates and program agreements.
The Board accepted resignations from Devon Anthony (effective Jan. 14, 2026) and Tina Jones (preferred district substitute, effective Feb. 20, 2026), approved Amanda Belknap as a band volunteer (retroactive to Jan. 12, 2026), and approved Joey Lunsford as a paid after-school high-school credit-recovery instructor. The Board also approved a slate of classified substitutes pending credentials (one name listed: Stephanie Lendon).
Policy approvals included a Preventing Chronic Absenteeism policy (Policy 6.09, effective Aug. 1, 2026), Student Health Services and First Aid (6.30), Transportation of Students in Board Owned Vehicles (6.44 - replacement), Overdose Reversal Drugs (6.60), and several administrative policies (8.11 Expense Reimbursements; 9.33 Control of Pest Insects; 9.44 Recording of Academic Instruction, Meetings, and Other Services). The Board approved the district Gifted Identification Plan and Gifted Education Policy and approved the Stark State College College Credit Plus agreement.
The Board also approved the FFA overnight trip to the State Convention, April 29–May 1, 2026. All superintendent recommendations were adopted by unanimous roll call. The minutes do not show debate on these items.
