The resolution—added to the agenda and adopted by roll call—directs counsel "to file an appeal on its behalf in the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals from the February 9, 2026 decision of the Tuscarawas County Budget Commission…unless the Commission takes action on or before March 1, 2026 acknowledging the Board's April 14, 2025 reallocation of its 4.2 mills of inside millage." The motion to add the resolution passed on an initial roll call (Mrs. Host yes; Ms. Campbell yes; Mrs. Grandison yes; Mr. Peters yes; Mrs. Wolf yes) and was later approved as new business.
Board members framed the vote as a procedural step to preserve the district's fiscal position while the Commission revisits the file. The appeal authorization will initiate administrative proceedings at the state level; the Board did not vote on any immediate changes to tax policy or rates at the meeting.
