CIAC draft charter would shift chair role to agency chief engineer; members ask for clearer feedback loop

"Given the shift in focus to major project delivery, we thought it would maybe more appropriate for the chief engineer and delivery operations division administrator to serve as chair to help drive the the conversation and agenda setting," Kat said. Some members expressed no objection to the idea but asked for more clarity because making the chief engineer the chair would change how recommendations and oversight are routed. One member noted that if CIAC's role is to recommend improvements to the commission, meeting timing relative to the commission matters for the committee's ability to influence decisions.
Members asked staff to review the proposed change and ensure the charter clearly documents how committee advice will be communicated back to the commission and how the committee will be used for continuous improvement; staff committed to revise the draft and circulate it for signature.
