Commission approves minutes with revision to town engineer disclosure language

The Ethics Commission reviewed the minutes of its June 15 meeting and agreed to approve them on the condition that a paragraph under item 5 be revised to separate sentences about town engineer disclosure. The Chair proposed breaking the paragraph into two parts and said she would prepare the revision after the meeting.
Members discussed language that would clarify the town engineer is a covered position but that, like attorneys, consultants/advisors not involved in budget discretion should not be subject to the same filing requirements. The Chair said: "We can keep the wording about the town engineer, this is a covered provision," and added she would "take this paragraph and break it into 2 pieces." The Commission indicated unanimous agreement to approve the minutes subject to that change.
