Mayor Randall Sasser told the Mossyrock City Council that repeated concrete cracking and leaks at the Coleman Hill water reservoirs require repeated repairs that the city cannot sustain.
"What an incredible team we have," Sasser said while commending public works staff for ongoing maintenance; he added the city is exploring options after reporting the treatment plant's dewatering process reduces sludge at a rate described in the report as about "1 cubic foot of sludge every eight hours." The Somat machine briefly was down because of a polymer issue but is back in service, and street striping work within the city has been completed. Council discussed placing a centerline stripe on Coleman Road as a planned improvement.
Council did not take formal action on a long-term repair plan at the meeting; staff and the planning commission were asked to continue evaluating options for reservoir sustainability and potential capital needs.
