Kechi council approves Huffman Drive improvements, authorizes up to $800,000 in bonds

In the same meeting the council passed Ordinance 1870-26 (designating certain streets as main trafficways or main trafficway connections) and Ordinance 1871-26 (authorizing the city to make main trafficway improvements and to issue general obligation bonds in an approximate principal amount of $800,000 to pay the costs of the improvements). Motions to approve the ordinances were made by Matt Brewer and seconded by Kendra Baldridge and carried 4-0.
Council members described the approvals as necessary to move the Huffman Drive project from planning to contract execution; city staff will finalize contract language and bond documents before signing. The council did not record any dissenting votes. The project financing is structured as general obligation bonds specifically tied to the authorized main trafficway improvements under Ordinance 1871-26.
