Planning commission backs Rock Lititz master plan update as hotel expansion is proposed

The Warwick Township Planning Commission recommended the updated Rock Lititz Master Plan at its June 24 meeting after an overview from Township Manager Brian Harris and a presentation by Dave Madary of Madary Engineering & Design. Madary said Touring Boulevard has been extended, sidewalks are being installed along the west side of SR 501, and the Clair Global building was recently completed.
Madary described a proposed hotel expansion onto the former Weiser’s Market site that would connect to the existing hotel and provide approximately 140 additional rooms. He said a traffic study for the hotel addition did not show dramatic changes to intersections or access points, but the expansion will require a Land Development Plan and a subdivision that shifts part of the Weiser’s/bank lot onto the Rock Lititz campus. Commissioners asked whether W. Newport Road would need upgrades for truck traffic; Madary said changes would depend on approval from an adjoining property owner. The commission’s recommendation was made by Commissioner Jane Windlebleck and seconded by Commissioner Larry Sheckler.
