Board approves $6.9M June bill list, insurance appointments and AWR PTA $82,699 playground donation

At its June 25 meeting the New Providence Board approved a comprehensive finance package that included acceptance of May financial reports, approval of bills and payments, contract appointments and a large PTA donation for a playground upgrade.
The Board approved payment of bills for June 2026 in the amount of $6,908,267.92 and ratified year-end transfers. The administration requested and the Board approved the appointment of insurance agents and providers for 2026–27 (including Aetna for health and Delta Dental for dental coverage) and authorized the Business Administrator/Board Secretary to direct prepayments where appropriate. The Board also adopted a resolution to continue withdrawal from the National School Lunch Program for 2026–27, as it previously had done.
The AWR PTA donation of $82,699 to purchase and install equipment for the North Court Playground was approved and will be completed in phases. The Board also approved a $60,000 transfer into capital reserve to fund eventual turf replacement at Lieder Field; the business administrator noted turf typically lasts eight to ten years. The vote carried on a roll call with Ms. Gunderman recorded as absent.
School Business Administrator James Testa summarized the items and answered clarifying questions; no additional funds were requested beyond approved items.
The Board will monitor contract completion and report any material changes to the Finance, Facilities, and Safety/Security committee.
