At the June 25 meeting the New Providence superintendent presented postsecondary outcomes for the high school Class of 2026. Dr. Lauren Zirpoli said the graduating class included 146 students with a weighted average GPA of 3.74, an average SAT of 1231 and an average ACT of 25. Students submitted 1,321 applications in total (an average of nine applications per student) and the cohort's acceptance rate was reported at 63.5 percent.
Dr. Zirpoli highlighted that 93.2 percent of the class planned to attend four-year colleges, with smaller shares entering trade schools (2.7 percent), the workforce (2.7 percent), or the military (1.4 percent). She read a representative sampling of college acceptances, naming institutions from Auburn and Penn State to Johns Hopkins, University of Michigan and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The superintendent congratulated graduates and families and emphasized that the list presented was a sampling of many acceptances earned by students during the year. The data will inform curriculum and counseling planning for the coming year.
