Chair moved to authorize John (town contact) to get the contractor (Tim Fisher) to proceed with installation discussions. "I'm gonna put authorize John to contact Tim Fisher, about installing this 20 kilowatt standby generator," the chair said during the motion. The board seconded the motion and approved it by voice vote. Members noted the town can fund the purchase from building repair and expense funds rather than using tax dollars.
The board discussed siting the propane tank and generator so the tank and equipment are at least 10 feet clear of septic/leach-field components and building vents. Contractors also recommended raising the generator slab so snow will not interfere with operation and suggested a larger single propane tank could be preferable to multiple smaller tanks if extended outages are possible.
Board members asked staff to obtain any additional quotes as needed and to confirm whether any grant funds are available for installation; staff will report back with a final recommendation.
