Planning staff asks consultant to study how Ashland's trail network ties into the city's transportation system

Staff requested that Alta and the traffic subconsultant evaluate trail-to-street connections and safety improvements as part of the Transportation System Plan update.
As part of the TSP update staff asked consultants to analyze how the city's trail system connects to the transportation network and to consider safety and design changes where trails intersect streets. "I requested Alta and Farron Piers to look at how our trail system connects to our transportation network," Brandon said, adding this is a new addition relative to the 2012 update when trails planning was less integrated.
Staff said the city has new trail plans and a Lithia Park master plan since the prior TSP and that the added analysis should identify improvements to crossings, signage and the form-and-function connections between trails and streets. The study will be included within the overall inventory and solution-development phases in 2026–2027.
