Advisory committee asks county to study South Main Street wetlands and supports municipal water extension for fire protection

Turner told the group that several parcels along South Main Street likely contain wetlands and recommended an updated wetland delineation: "County shall conduct a wetland delineation study of the South Main Street area and update the resource conservation land use designation accordingly," she said.

Committee members and City Manager Kevin Ingram discussed limited water availability and a lack of hydrants in parts of the planning area, and several participants said annexation or interties should be considered to provide reliable fire suppression and domestic water. Turner captured a recommendation: the county should support annexation or service extension to ensure municipal water is available for fire suppression and commercial/domestic use.
