Members told staff that simple changes—more and clearer signage, corrected online mapping, and streamlined permitting—could help the area capture tourism opportunities while preserving local character. Jessica (participant) said, "we don't have signage up here. Really plain and simple," and urged better signage for Boggs State Forest and other recreation points.
Panelists also recommended a single web hub for each planning area with links to local area plans, municipal advisory council schedules, zoning maps, and permitting checklists so prospective businesses and event organizers know where to start. Chris Nels and others suggested the county embed checklists and linked forms in the forthcoming online permitting portal to make permit selection and submission easier for people unfamiliar with county processes. Staff noted the county is preparing a public-facing permitting portal and will consider adding a special-events checklist module.
