Court Administrator Katie Dorman summarized three grant awards to support the city’s community court programs and related supervision services. For the FY27 community court renewal she said she requested $311,000 and the city received $294,678.56; that award will fund a full‑time court employee, officer Johnson's time in the program, prosecutor and public defender time, training and travel (approximately $20,365) and treatment services for program participants.
Dorman also described two reimbursement grants: a post‑conviction reimbursement (the city requested $60,000 and received $10,000) to cover services already paid for (electronic home monitoring (EHM), MRT, drug testing, ignition interlock) and a pretrial reimbursement grant (received $20,000) to reimburse similar monitoring costs for eligible pretrial defendants. Council voted to accept the community court renewal and both reimbursement grants during the July 6 meeting.
