District reports summer program wrap-up, new principal and 18–21 program progress

Superintendent Mike Detoro reported summer programs are concluding successfully, introduced new principal Miss Wood (onboard since July 1), and said the district hopes to go out to bid in August for the 18–21 program space with a goal to open in the spring.
Superintendent Mike Detoro told the board that summer learning and enrichment programs have been productive and that the district will present highlights and photos at an August meeting.
"The summer programs are coming to a close," Detoro said, adding that staff will present program updates at the August 2 meeting. He also introduced the district's new principal, Miss Wood, who started July 1 and has been meeting with booster groups, parent organizations and other stakeholders. Detoro said she has "some exciting ideas" for the coming year.
Detoro also reported progress on the district's 18–21 program: the space has been cleared, designs are being finished with partners, and the district hopes to go out to bid in August with the aim of opening the facility the following spring. Facilities and program staff will return with design specifics and procurement timelines.
