Staff reports strong public response to comprehensive-plan visioning; next focus group set

City staff told the Planning Commission that the visioning workshop for the comprehensive plan generated strong participation, with more than 300 survey responses; consultants are drafting plan text and one final focus group remains before staff review and chapter-by-chapter commission review.
Administrator Barry updated the Planning Commission on the comprehensive plan visioning and public-engagement process on June 10. Barry said the May 14 visioning workshop had a good turnout and that the consultant team is drafting plan text; staff reported more than 300 responses to the online survey.
"We did get over 300 responses to the survey," Barry said, and staff described a schedule in which one more focus group would complete the public-engagement phase next week and consultants would deliver draft chapters for staff and commission review. Barry said staff will bring targeted chapters back to the commission for consideration at milestones and thanked the public for participation. He also noted pending land-use items staff will track, including a second submission for a rezoning of a maximum-auto lot and potential ordinance updates related to accessory dwelling units and reduced parking in transit areas based on recent state law changes.
