Before substantive agenda items, board members moved to approve the minutes from the June 25 meeting with an amendment to include an administrative memorandum that corrects mispronunciations and notation errors.
A board member asked that the memorandum, which describes a query the city ran to translate words and correct digital transcription discrepancies, be appended to the minutes prior to approval. "If you would, a query that actually translate the notes... kinda like a spell check," a board member said while introducing the memorandum. The board amended the minutes to include the memorandum and approved the minutes unanimously by voice vote.
Board members later referenced the memorandum during the variance hearing to clarify earlier statements and to explain why staff had brought corrected wording back to the board for review.
