Students honored and performing: Basie nominations, theater and STEAM successes noted

The meeting included an extended student report delivered by Student Representative Cole Harbison that highlighted district arts, academic and service accomplishments. Henry Hudson Regional School’s cast of Be More Chill and individual students received Basie Award nominations; the student report also noted that 13 new members were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society on April 21.
Elementary and middle schools reported successful performances and STEAM competition results: Atlantic Highlands Elementary staged The Addams Family with roughly 60 students involved; Highlands Elementary presented Willy Wonka; more than 15 teams entered the STEAM Tank Challenge with three advancing to regional competition. Student Council and STARS hosted a pinwheel fundraiser for Autism Acceptance Month and collected about $350 for Oasis TLC.
Superintendent Dr. Beams also commended the musical performances and the district’s arts programming. The student report emphasized community engagement and highlighted Accepted Students Day (May 1) and other upcoming celebrations.
