Students, bands and filmmakers honored; band departs for Florida performance

Board and student reports filled much of the March 25 meeting with celebrations of student accomplishments. The Henry Hudson Film Festival winners were announced (Best of Fest: More Than a Game by Ethan Hartsgrove; Audience Choice: Lily Hensle; categories winners listed), and music program students Aurora O'Neill and Alex Estrada Diaz were selected for the All Shore Symphonic Band. The minutes also noted $5,775 raised in a Jump Rope for Heart event for Finn’s Mission and almost $900 raised for Caps for Kids/leukemia awareness.
Superintendent Dr. Tara Beams and student representative Cole Harbison reported the marching band departed for Florida to perform at Universal Studios and the choir is scheduled for a stage performance at City Walk. The meeting recognized many student artists, athletes and staff members of the month, underscoring the district’s emphasis on arts and extracurricular opportunities.
