Selectboard discusses shifting committee agenda-posting responsibility to volunteers or new staff

Town staff (Town Administrator Aileen Tulloch, Town Treasurer Tina Labeau and Town Clerk Allison Marino) told the Selectboard that posting agendas and minutes for multiple committees is stretching staff capacity and that several committees have no salaried help to perform the task. Staff proposed that each committee be responsible for properly warning its meetings, citing frequent after-hours requests and lost emails as reasons current practice is unsustainable.
Several volunteers pushed back. Dominique Boutin said asking volunteers to take on posting duties could be burdensome, and Maryann Morris urged support for volunteers and better communication. Gary Hedman noted the workload on town staff and suggested a middle ground. The board discussed a trial period with the new staff person handling postings and encouraged committee chairs to learn to post online; the Selectboard will revisit the matter at a future meeting.
