Rentsch said a decision needs to be made by the end of March for any change to take effect next school year and announced a public forum on Monday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Middle School and a follow-up special meeting on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00 p.m. at the Administrative Office to answer questions and hear comments from staff and the community. The Board did not take a final vote on consolidation at the March 9 meeting.
Board members engaged in open discussion about the options and financial concerns following the presentation. The discussion was framed against the district vision: "Claymont City School District will provide each student an opportunity for a lifetime of success." Next steps are the two public meetings and any board action before month-end.
