District reports completed boiler work, pending turf testing and windows delivery

Facilities staff updated the board on active capital and maintenance work across district sites, reporting recently completed projects and items still under construction or awaiting parts and deliveries.

Mr. Wagner said the boiler replacement at 1144 Hooper Avenue is complete, the new boilers are operational and connected to the building management system (BMS). He reported Group 2 projects remain open with a few outstanding punch-list items and that two credit-deduct change orders on current projects should return roughly $100,000 to the district as those projects are closed out.

Wagner noted turf fields installed after the district’s January 2019 referendum are now five years old and require annual GMAX testing to confirm safety ratings; he estimated GMAX testing runs about $4,000 and said results will determine whether any grooming or repairs are required. He also said a JVAC floor and membrane replacement is expected to be bid in March to allow for summer installation.

On windows, staff said most installation is complete at some sites, but delivery of remaining windows for Site 196 (Washington Street in Westover) was expected this week and that some sites, like Cedar Grove and Walnut, received partial replacements. Maintenance reported handrail anchors at Intermediate South were repaired using on-hand parts and that gym floors in the arena were sanded, resealed and received a new logo.

Board members asked whether track coaches and building users had been consulted about floor and layout options for the bubble/indoor track project; staff said multiple options will be bid and administration requested basketball and pickleball layouts be included.
