Kimball council approves follow-up directions for Main Street project

The motion, carried unanimously among those present, instructed engineers to (1) leave existing steps along 1st Street if the project can work around them or include replacement if necessary; (2) investigate whether the hydrant at 2nd and Main can be moved to the northeast bumpout location and not pursue bollards around hydrants now; (3) coordinate with property owners about boulevard tree replacement, preferring replacements outside the boulevards when possible; and (4) coordinate separately with NW Energy about a 1st Street light pole because that work is outside the current project scope.
Council made the decisions by motion (mover: Shelly Janish, second: Angel Stellwag) as part of follow-up items on the Main Street project. The minutes show these are direction-level decisions for project engineering and coordination rather than immediate construction work.
