Tift County fills multiple board and committee posts, including Hospital Authority and Athletic Advisory Committee

At its Jan. 12 meeting, the Tift County Board of Commissioners appointed a series of candidates to local boards and committees across health, tourism and athletics.
County Clerk Miriam Jordan told the board there were three posts open on the Hospital Authority and that the authority had submitted three nominees per post. "There are three (3) posts that need appointments. The Hospital Authority has submitted three (3) names for each post as required," Jordan said. Commissioner Tyler Riddle nominated Dr. Jessica Beier (appointed), Riddle nominated Rosemary Short (appointed over a 5–1 vote; Commissioner Donnie Hester voted against), and Commissioner Melissa Hughes nominated Larry Mims (appointed).
The board also reappointed Patricia Welker and Jonathan Judy to the Tifton-Tift County Tourism Association and appointed six people — Dennis Reese, David Evans, Hilary Green, Hannah Harrison, Adam Hipps and Jess Lindsey — to the Tift County Athletic Advisory Committee. Legacy Behavioral Health requested two appointments to the South Georgia Community Service Board; the board appointed Dr. Amy Warren as the community member and Chairman Tony McBrayer appointed Commissioner Melissa Hughes as the elected official representative.
Most appointments carried on voice votes without extended discussion; the only recorded dissent was the 5–1 vote against Rosemary Short’s appointment. Appointees will serve the terms and begin participating in board activities according to each board’s bylaws.
