Speedhut owner says Payson purchase will let custom-gauge maker expand

Aaron Westburg, founder of Speedhut, described to the Payson City Economic Development Board on Jan. 7 how his company grew from a home operation to leasing space in Orem and now seeks to buy property in Payson to expand.
Westburg said Speedhut manufactures custom gauges and partners with suppliers to produce parts for vintage and new vehicles. He told the board the business "employs just over 30 employees" and currently contends with tariffs and overseas shipping issues that affect production and costs. The company was recently highlighted in the Payson Chronicle, he said.
Board members heard the presentation during the meeting's guest segment. Assistant City Manager Robert Mills introduced Westburg to the board. No formal action was taken at the meeting on Speedhut's plans.
