Staff flags intermodal containers, special events and temporary-structure rules for later review

Kimberly pointed out that new provisions for intermodal shipping containers are now in the building code and require identification, inspection by an approved agency and verification of the container data plate. "If you're gonna use a shipping container for anything, you have to meet all these requirements or regulations," she said.
She also noted the code now defines and regulates temporary event structures (stages, scaffolds, towers) installed for less than 180 days and that the board should consider whether to adopt Appendix P (sleeping lofts) and Appendix O (performance code) as local appendices. The presenter recommended the board review and decide whether to adopt these appendices at a future meeting.
