Commission authorizes chair and vice chair to sign planning commission resolution PCR-26-0009

At the April 22 meeting, staff asked the commission to authorize the chair and vice chair to sign Planning Commission Resolution PCR-26-0009, a procedural step tied to a comprehensive plan cleanup amendment the commission reviewed previously. Becky Pepper, speaking for staff, said there is no change to the comprehensive plan amendment packet the commission saw last month; this item is ‘‘just specifically related to that planning commission resolution’’ and the recommended action is to authorize the chair and vice chair to sign the resolution.

A commissioner asked about language in the second whereas paragraph that appeared to refer to a long-range plan; another commissioner noted the recital language is standard template language used on plan amendments. ‘‘It is kind of the prototypical language we put in there since it is to commissioner Munch’s point in describing what the language is for plan 2040,’’ a staff member said, noting the text is standard. The transcript contains references to both a '2050' plan earlier in the meeting and a '2040' reference in the resolution recital discussion; staff described the recital as standard language and the commission retained the resolution language as presented.

Commissioner Steve moved that the commission approve and authorize the chair to sign Planning Commission Resolution PCR-26-0009; Jeff seconded. The chair called for hands; no opposition or abstentions were recorded on the transcript and the motion passed. Staff confirmed this action is the planning commission’s final act on that resolution and that the city commission and county commission will also take final action as separate bodies where applicable.

The action authorizes execution of PCR-26-0009; the transcript does not record a roll-call vote tally or further conditions.
