Council delays decision after proposal to boost mayor pay to $50,000

Another member said the council could discuss and even vote tonight but preferred to receive a memo outlining statutory limits and options.
After discussion, S6 moved to postpone consideration of elected officials’ compensation until the next meeting to allow staff time to prepare the requested legal guidance. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote; roll-call confirmations recorded ayes from Council members Longacre, Rosander, Dudley and Hadler. The matter will return to the council with additional legal and procedural information.
The council did not take a final vote on any pay change; members asked for a written memo on applicable caps and for suggested amounts or mechanisms before taking further action.
