City staff reported that the street-light maintenance fund, budgeted at $210,000 for the fiscal year ending 06/30/2026, is tracking higher than expected and will require a budget amendment.
The presenter said the fund averaged about $15,600 per month last fiscal year but is currently averaging $17,800 per month, a difference of roughly $2,200 per month. "So we need to, do a budget amendment, which would take $5,000 from the cash reserve for the street light maintenance fund and put it into the appropriations," the finance director said. The director added that a budget amendment requires a public hearing.
Council members were told the change would not alter the street-light assessment to ratepayers; staff proposed using reserve funds to cover the shortfall and scheduled the public hearing for the council's July meeting.
