Londonderry agrees to fund half of feasibility study for North Main Street flood protection

The Selectboard voted Sept. 8 to spend $3,545 from the Economic Fund toward a proposed feasibility study for flood protection and mitigation for six businesses on North Main Street. Warften Engineering submitted the proposal and will donate some of its time, reducing the estimated total cost to $6,545; the town’s share will be half, with remaining costs to be divided among property owners. Center Merrill told the board he is willing to pay for two businesses, lowering the per-business share for remaining owners to roughly $500 each.
Jim Fleming moved to approve expending $3,545 from the Economic Fund; the motion passed unanimously. The board said the study will help identify floodproofing options and next steps for businesses at risk from Main Street flooding.
