Londonderry reports jump in short-term rental registrations and $31,000 in fees

Town officials told the Selectboard on Oct. 6 that short-term rental registration rose to 68 applications this year from 53 last year, with 43 complete applications now licensed. The report noted registration fees are collected after a post-inspection walkthrough and that the 43 licensed applications have produced $31,000 in fees, which town staff say should cover program costs.
The SRT Administrator also reported attrition: nine STRs dropped out, four converted to long-term rentals and five stopped renting. Staff said safety-driven amendments to the ordinance have led to more smoke and carbon monoxide alarm installations and replacement of bedroom windows where required. The updates were delivered as an administrative report during the Selectboard meeting.
