Engineer: River Ridge stormwater system held up under nearly 8 inches of rain; options to add bypass connection discussed

District Engineer reported parts of the community received nearly 8 inches of rain during Tropical Storm Debbie, the stormwater system reached capacity but flowed unobstructed, and the Board discussed adding a drainage connection to lake E1-A to bypass pipes and inlets.
Charlie Krebs, District Engineer with Hole Montes, Inc., reported on stormwater performance after Tropical Storm Debbie, saying parts of the community received "almost 8" of rain in two or three days" while the roads are designed for about 5½ inches of rain over 24 hours. Krebs said the stormwater system reached capacity but generally flowed unobstructed and suggested that The Club could add a drainage connection to lake E1-A so water bypasses pipes and inlets where necessary.
A resident expressed concern that standing water is rising through a slab and causing mold; Krebs said he does not believe the standing water caused the resident's problem because other units did not report similar issues. Mr. Schultz asked that Mr. Long comment and requested the item be included on the next agenda for further review. The engineer also reported that MRI's Pinehurst valley gutter inlet grate replacement is about 80% complete and that the schedule for asphalt patching will be confirmed.
